Pleasure from sunshine in autumn
(or fall if you must!)
The sun was shining on the moon –
Look! Quick! The moon will set soon.
The sun was shining on a puddle
And on the sheep all in a huddle.
The sun was shining on the hills:
The vibrant green gave my eyes thrills.
The sun was shining on the valley
And it made my spirit rally.
The sun was shining on the trees.
They didn’t move – there was no breeze.
The sun was shining on the leaves
And on the stubble – there are no sheaves.
The sun was shining on the sea
So brightly I could hardly see.
The sun was shining on the island
With haze below the pin-sharp high land.
The sun was shining on the clouds;
It bought the insects out in crowds.
The sun was shining all day long;
Let’s all praise God with a happy song.
The prompt for day 8 of #introtopoetry is pleasure. It arrived in the afternoon of a perfect autumn day. The choice of poetic device for the day was anaphora, epistrophe or symploce.
I was fortunate to be able to go out on foot and by car, enjoying the beauty of the countryside lit by the sun, lower in the sky at this time of year than in summer. As there have been some very dull days already, having so much sunshine was a real blessing. I have used anaphora.
