Book review: Stress by Dr Kate Middleton
Stress: How to de-stress without doing less
This book is in three sections. The first section describes what stress is and its effects on people, physically, mentally and emotionally. These include digestive problems, making mistakes and panic attacks.
The second section considers the way that certain personality types are most likely to be affected by burnout. Middleton stresses that no-one is immune to the effects of stress.
The third section has practical ideas for managing stress and its effects including sleep problems. Whether someone can manage alone or needs help is discussed.
Written in a readable style, this book is suitable for everyone. I particularly recommend it to high achievers, busy people, anyone who is sceptical about mental illness and those involved in general practice, occupational healthcare and emergency medicine.
