The prompt for Day six of the #introtopoetry course from WordPress is to write about a screen and to use the device of enjambment.  I was not familiar with the term, but it is something I frequently do, when I write a poem.  Screen has many meanings and I have explored some of them in this poem.

Screened

In summer an elaborate
Flower arrangement may hide the grate.
An embroidered fire-screen
May be seen
In a stately home.
Here’s a tome –
A thick book –
I take a look
Inside.
Screen means hide.
Hide means conceal;
Yet other screens reveal
Pictures and information.
Screens can be for classification:
Sets of riddles
With holes in the middles
Sorting stuff into various sizes.
Or judging poems for prizes.
